Cohiba Cigars

Cohiba Cigars have been in distribution for nearly 50 years. However when first made they were Fidel Castro’s personal gift to chosen diplomats. They weren’t made available to the general public until the early 1980s.The brand name itself stems from the ancient Taino Indian word for tobacco. Legend has it that when Christopher Columbus first landed on Cuba he saw the local inhabitants inhaling tightly bound leaves.

Initially the range consisted of only three sizes; this was expanded by three and today is the Línea Clásica. In 1992, to commemorate the fist sailing of Christopher Columbus, the Línea 1492 was created. In addition Cohiba fans can enjoy a range of Maduro cigars and recently the exquisite Cohiba Behike has been created.

To this day Cohiba production is tightly controlled and only 5% of cigars made from Cuba bear the Cohiba marque.
