In 2025, Montecristo celebrates its 90th anniversary — nine decades of uncompromising quality, craftsmanship, and timeless appeal. To mark this remarkable milestone, Hunters & Frankau Ltd proudly presents a House Reserve Special Release, curated to honour the brand’s illustrious legacy.
This exclusive release features ten-year aged Montecristo cigars, meticulously selected and aged under ideal conditions to reveal extraordinary depth and refinement. Only 135 individually numbered boxes have been created, each containing ten cigars representing four of the original vitolas that introduced Montecristo to the world in 1935:
Montecristo No.2, Montecristo No.3, Montecristo No.4, and Montecristo No.5.
Adding to this exceptional celebration, 100 numbered boxes of the legendary Montecristo 520 – the acclaimed 2012 Habanos Limited Edition – have been included.
Every cigar proudly bears a Hunters & Frankau Aged and Rare House Reserve foot band, while each box is adorned with a distinctive commemorative band, marking this singular moment in Montecristo’s storied history.

Hunters & Frankau’s House Reserve: A Legacy of Patience and Perfection
Since the close of the last century, Hunters & Frankau has carefully set aside a small number of particularly distinguished Havana cigars each year. While some of these rare treasures were eventually released to meet market demand, others were preserved in our private warehouse — aged with the utmost care under ideal conditions of temperature and humidity.
Over time, these exceptional cigars have evolved into a collection unlike any other: the Hunters & Frankau House Reserve.
Beginning in 2019, limited quantities from this remarkable stock have been made available to discerning enthusiasts in Britain. These cigars are presented either in their original boxes, bearing the mark of Aged & Rare, or within specially commissioned humidors as part of the House Reserve Series 1790.
Every cigar within the Aged & Rare collection has been aged for a minimum of ten years in our warehouse. Each box is carefully labeled 10+, 15+, or 20+ — denoting the number of years since the cigars were rolled, boxed, and originally dispatched from Cuba’s legendary factories.
Before release, every single cigar is meticulously inspected. Approved boxes are stamped “Revisado” — meaning checked — and accompanied by an official Release Certificate, signed by our Warehouse Manager. This certificate authenticates the date of manufacture in Cuba, the date of release from the House Reserve, and the rarity classification of its contents.
Each box bears an EMS (English Market Selection) stamp, confirming the year of its release from the House Reserve. In cases where a box was previously cleared from Bond, it will also display the EMS stamp from that earlier date.
Finally, each cigar is elegantly adorned with a foot band, signifying its provenance as part of Hunters & Frankau’s Aged & Rare House Reserve — a discreet yet unmistakable mark of distinction.
