LUSITANIAS
A star among cigars, the Lusitania is a vitola that commands attention. There are few sights in the cigar world that rival the elegance of a Lusitania in full flight—its graceful proportions, slow burn, and deep, layered flavour make it a truly majestic experience. Bold yet refined, it is a cigar crafted not for the everyday, but for moments that matter. A Lusitania is not just smoked—it’s savoured, and always remembered.
The Partagas Brand
If there’s one building in Havana that stirs the hearts of cigar aficionados, it’s the historic Partagas factory, located at No. 520 Industria Street, just behind the Capitol building in the very heart of the city.
Founded in 1845 by the visionary Don Jaime Partagas, this factory remained a beacon of cigar craftsmanship until only a few years ago. Though it has since closed its doors, plans are already in motion to transform this iconic location into a dedicated cigar museum, preserving its legacy for future generations. The Partagas shop on the ground floor remains open, offering visitors the chance to experience a piece of Cuban cigar history up close.
A Partagas cigar is easily identifiable by its distinctive, deep, earthy flavor—an unmistakable hallmark of the brand. The richness of its blend is derived from carefully selected filler and binder tobaccos grown in the renowned Vuelta Abajo region, known for its exceptional soil and ideal climate. These tobaccos impart an unparalleled depth of flavour and aroma that has made Partagas a name synonymous with quality.
Partagas cigars come in a wide range of sizes and shapes, from the robust Lusitania to the iconic 8-9-8, a unique arrangement inspired by the way the cigars are laid out in their box. But perhaps the most iconic of all is the Serie D No.4, a robusto that became part of the legendary Partagas alphabet series, which traces its roots back to the 1930s.
In 2005, the Partagas Serie P No.2, a bold Pirámide, was added to the range and quickly became the go-to choice for connoisseurs of full-bodied Havanas. Over the years, the range expanded with the Serie D No.5 in 2011 and the substantial Serie E No.2—both of which reinforced the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and flavor. In 2014, the Serie D No.6 was introduced, continuing the brand’s legacy of excellence.
Every Partagas cigar is made with the utmost care: ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’—long filler, totally handmade—ensuring that every smoke is a testament to the skill and dedication of the artisans who create them.
